Appearance: A short, young woman in her late teens or in her twenties, it’s hard to tell. Her long, long hair is black, yet her eyes are clearly red, and her skin is pale. Her teeth are ordinary most of the time, with the exception of two fangs that make one think ‘vampire’ almost immediately.
She tends to wear a white suit, (including a white tie and white pants), and usually wears a long, white trench coat over this, as well as a scarf. Her hair is usually crowned by a white, furry hat.
History:
Canon history: http://hellsing.wikia.com/wiki/Alucard#History
This, however, is an AU version. Whereas the OU version was Vlad Ţepeş, this version was not
She was born in Wallachia long ago, around 1445 AD. Then named Alexandra, she was a young noble woman, sister of a far more renowned man, Vlad the third, who history remembers as The Impaler. She grew up in turbulent times – one of her brothers was blinded and buried alive after her father was killed, for example, and she was ousted from her family’s lands, alongside her family, in the process, before it was taken back by her brother years later.
Still, she was raised like a noble woman. A noble woman living in the 15th century. This did not only mean embroidery – such a woman was often expected to take command of a castle to defend it, during the absence of her husband. Of course, she would still not ride with her brothers to war, that was never her role.
The entire area was threatened by Ottoman conquest at this time, as Constantinople had fallen, allowing the Ottoman Empire access to the Balkan, including Wallachia. It was during this time that things took a turn for the worse for Alexandra. Vlad III had a notorious hatred for the Ottoman Empire, stemming from his childhood, which caused him to refuse to parlay with them, ending with him killing the messengers.
The Bey of Nicopolis was sent with his troops to deal with him, to make peace or, if it was required, to kill him. Vlad III anticipated this, and set an ambush. Unfortunately – and this is where history changed - it failed. Vlad was captured, and while he caused tremendous losses to the Turks, his army was put down, he himself cast in iron. The Bey’s troops then went on to capture Vlad’s castle, to plunder it, and to execute him and those that had been loyal.
And Alexandra was in the midst of this. She witnessed the beheading of her brother, the murder of most of her family and their servants, as well as the execution of loyal troops that had been captured. And the bloodshed showed no sign of stopping. She, as well as other surviving women, had nothing good to look forward to.
Unlike the original Alucard, it was at this early point that she became a vampire, by drinking from the blood – of many, many people - that seemed to be everywhere in the castle. Casting her humanity aside, she forsaked god (who, she assumed, had deserted all of them) and embraced becoming a monster, much like her brother would do in the original universe. When dawn broke, she was the only being left in the castle. Seeing herself as a monster, from then on she existed solely through her hatred for those that had destroyed everything she held dear, and she vowed to make all of them pay.
Using her new-found powers to create a figure of her brother (or, at times, taking his shape for herself if required), as well as a small part of his host, she essentially took his place, raised an army in his name using his funds, and started the following brutal war against the Ottomans.
This was when “Vlad” gained the horrible reputation in the history books. Alexandra was not Vlad, but she had seen him act - and she made sure to play the role so nobody would grow suspicious and ruin her plan for revenge (which required funds as well as soldiers in high numbers). And here, she had a tendency to overcompensate, rather being too harsh than too soft. When he’d have impaled the ringleader of a troublesome group, she’d impale them all, without mercy. When he’d have sent rude messengers away, she had their hats nailed to their heads. And when the boyars, local nobility, were too corrupt, they were impaled as well. She was nothing but a tyrant, harsh against her subjects, and completely horrible against the Ottoman Empire, using both force and psychological warfare.
As time went on, this fake “Vlad” gained the reputation of a zealous crusader. What brought the fake down was not an outside enemy – it was treachery. The way Alexandra had treated the boyars had made the surviving ones fear for their life, so they parlayed with the Ottomans to remove their otherworldly zealous leader. It was obvious that their part of the bargain was the death of “Vlad”. And so, an ambush was set. While the boyars withdrew their troops, the Ottomans descended on “Vlad”’s small loyal host, killing them. Alexandra fought, using her abilities right in the open, but the enemy was too numerous. Again, and again, she was cut down, and finally was scattered, buried in several places, like how one dealt with a vampire in these times.
It did not actually stop her, though. After several decades, her pieces managed to gather again, and the vampire was whole once more.
From this point on, her AU history differed little from that of OU Alucard: Her being a monster was far more of an impact than gender, and it being impossible to get her revenge caused the same emptiness OU Alucard felt. She was a noble, just like him, and so almost naturally sought a base of power – a castle. Just like him, she formed a domain, sired lesser vampires (“Draculinas”), and became a local terror, preying primarly on virgins of either gender, and became known as Dracula (usually count Dracula, because she would sometimes assume the shape of her brother, which led people to assume that her true form was merely the form of another servant or mistress, something she actively cultivated – it threw vampire hunters off).
And just like him, she was eventually confronted by Abraham Van Helsing and his troupe, after her fateful visit to London. Abraham van Helsing cared little for her gender. What mattered to him and his allies was that she had attempted to turn Mina into a vampire, and later that she was an useful servant of Hellsing. Further members of the family saw it the same: A monster first and foremost, but an useful monster.
Consequently, she was sent to Nazi Germany, confronted Millennium, earned their enmity, and is, 60 years later, fighting Millennium once again. ….Well, she would be. Unfortunately, she was taken right after crashing into the “HMS Eagle”.
Previous Game History: N/A
Personality: What makes them what they are? How do they think of themselves? What drives them? etc.
The original Alucard of Hellsing was an arrogant jerk, who knew he was on top of the power chart in his canon. He was brutal, had no problem with killing whatsoever, and respected only very few people, usually very strong-willed humans. Underneath all that was a sadness, caused by envy for humans – which contrasts a bit with his apparent willingness to slaughter normal humans simply because they attacked him.
The AU Alucard is still arrogant and cocky. She considers herself to be highly powerful, and enjoys humiliating enemies, even more so than the original version did. She will often take hits, to make enemies think they killed or even obliterated her – which she then turns around by regenerating the wounds and attacking for real. Unlike the original Alucard, however, this female AU also enjoys doing this further, in several different ways, usually with the aim to turn the combat into a farce by adding weird elements to it – for example making her coffin grow 6+ arms and legs, and using it as a make-shift mount (actions like this can also be seen as her particular manifestation of insanity). She is quite fond of being unpredictable due to actions like this, and can be a tad playful - for example, as ‘Count’, she was rather fond of toying with victims, for example by giving them a chance, but only a tiny one. She also likes giving people weird nicknames, “woofy” for a werewolf, for example.
She is also much more likely to not attempt to kill enemies than the original Alucard. The reason lies in her background. The original Alucard was harsh to his subjects, but she was worse, much worse. And she now realizes that this paved the ground for being betrayed in the first place. Coupled with her respect for humanity as a whole, this Alucard will at least try to not kill humans that attempt to kill her. It will not stop her from mocking, though, and if she feels she has to fight to kill, she will attempt to do so, as remorseless as one would expect from a monster – she has no problem with wading through blood. She simply does not immediately do so at the slightest provocation.
Of course, her arrogance can easily backfire since Alucard might underestimate an opponent, which would directly lead to her being taken by surprise.
Humans...these are a special subject. Alucard separates them (and all humanoid beings, really) into three categories: Dogs, humans, and monsters. “Dogs” refers to people that obey commands blindly, the masses. “Humans” refers to people that, in Alucard’s eyes, have earned the right to consider themselves human, usually by displaying will power and independence. Finally, monsters are those that reject their mortality, that kill indiscriminately, or both. Monsters that do both are the thing Alucard despises the most, with humans that kill themselves in the face of death being close behind. A human rejecting their mortality and becoming a monster is nearly the only thing that can actually make Alucard cry – she views it as someone repeating the same mistake she did, upon which, in her opinion, little good followed. Indeed, she despises what she has become, something she has never acknowledged. It usually shows mostly in her willingness to hunt down her fellow vampires and kill. Any guilt for her past deeds is similarly externalized.
“Humans” have their own category because, as mentioned earlier, she both respects and envies humans. Respect, because a human facing death is far, far more courageous than an immortal like her could ever be. And envy, because humans can truly die. Her contempt for beings that slaughter humans en mass comes because such a being would be disrespecting humanity and their courage. This dislike goes further than her OU counterpart, because her subconscious regret for actions she did centuries ago is stronger. She, too, sacrificed everything she had for revenge, and came up empty, but her actions had a higher impact on her downfall.
A human that she respects can be a frail old woman, but that will not diminish that respect. All that matters is their willpower and willingness to face death bravely. To these people, Alucard can even be very polite and downright suave, depending on the situation, and these people are who Alucard considers truly beautiful (even if others would not).
Unlike the original Alucard, she used deception much more often in her un-life than the original did (for example by fooling her subjects into thinking she was her brother, by taking his shape with her powers, or creating him separate from her), making her approach to problems slightly less directly. While she still enjoys fighting to an almost insane degree (believing, like most immortals in her canon, that such a fight would be a good thing to die in), she is perfectly willing to avoid it if she believes that it is beneficial, and she is fine with using her transformative abilities to throw her enemies off. This can either involve weirding them out, or attempting to terrorize them – and she is mostly fine with avoiding a battle as a result unless the battle is against a particularly interesting foe.
Despite not being above deception, treachery is something she despises. Her father committed betrayal and died, and her revenge was destroyed by betrayal. She has no love for traitors, and takes vows very, very seriously. She had no intention of betraying Hellsing, and if serving Hellsing meant using her inherent bloodlust to battle their foes, the better. Similarly, if she makes a vow here, she will take it equally seriously, trying to keep it if humanly possible.
[Finally, notice that she considers herself very much a monster. She is definitely not a "good" person, as her history shows, but her goals these days are. Mostly. She might even, deep down, believe that doing good-ish deeds might be a way to redemption, though that part is pretty much mocked constantly by the rest of her personality.]
Powers/Abilities:
First and foremost, Alucard is a vampire. This means that she has incredible strength, and can regenerate her body, reforming it after it was ripped in two, for example (to the point where she is surprised that another vampire cannot regenerate their leg and continue fighting).
She can also shape shift, turning into a swarm of bats, other people whose blood she drank, a large black dog, or a combination of these. Her shape can also go completely strange, into a shadowy mass of tentacles, eyes, mouths, and the like. She can change parts of her body as well, for example growing a shadowy dog out of her arm – or growing her arm, with a gun, out of said shadowy dog’s jaw – and these parts can even exist without a direct connection to her.
The shadowy mass can move like liquid, and parts of it can hide – this is a way that Alucard sometimes uses to appear behind people, sneaking a part of herself behind the other person, then collapsing her main form and reappearing behind them. She can even “coat” a body with this shadowy stuff, making it appear like herself.
This shapeshifting ability is likely what Alucard used to appear to move through a wall to shock several people.
Her shapeshifting does include clothing and her property. If her arm gets ripped off, she can regrow it fully clothed, and the clothes won’t even be stained.
As a vampire, she can mind control weak humans (ie: mooks, not player characters or important NPCs), turn virgins into vampires by biting them (which she will never do outside of very, very specific situations – this should not come up in OD unless it’s an approved plot), she can telepathically contact sired vampires, and she can call spilled blood to herself, regardless who spilled it, and even if some time passed since the spilling.
The blood will move on its own with quite a high speed, gathering at Alucards position where she devours it to regain her strength. There is actually a hidden weakness in this ability: She cannot check the blood before devouring it. Millenium was able to use this very power to defeat Alucard, by adding specific blood to the blood Alucard would drink this way. The person the blood was from (who committed suicide to spill it) had a special ability that essentially poisoned Alucard.
Of course, drinking blood to the extent that the victim dies also allows access to the person’s memories.
Drinking blood is important, because technically, every being that she has devoured the blood of is still “stored” within her and can be summoned separately from herself. This includes many, many soldiers, including cavalry. However, usually, releasing more than a few of these at once is limited by a seal placed on her by Abraham van Helsing. She can only call upon these if the leader of Hellsing authorizes her to do so. Consequently, the full extent of ability is out of her reach, and she cannot summon more than three at once. This is usually simply the large, black dog, used to devour people that Alucard has no respect for whatsoever. Less common is her coffin, which grows six arms/legs due to her shapeshifting power, and can be used as a mount or to kick down random Nazis.
Her senses are also increased, she can heart a heartbeat from several rooms away, and spot a moving target 500 metres away at night. Oh, and she can walk up a building by walking up its side.
Being a vampire comes with several weaknesses. Alucard takes significantly more damage from sanctified weapons, can be prevented from entering or leaving an area if it is properly sanctified, cannot cross large bodies of water without an aid (bridge, ship), and would be trapped in a suitably deep lake or ocean if submerged. Either of the last two situations would render Alucard incapable of moving from her position, forcing her to wait for others to pull her out of the water. Contrary to popular belief, sunlight does not harm a vampire like Alucard, but she dislikes it still. And garlic just smells bad.
As for other skills, she can tell if someone is a werewolf or a vampire by looks, she is a master marksman, proficient in several melee weapons, can fly an airplane, and is pretty good at riding a horse as well.
I am aware that this is quite a laundry list of powers. I have no intention of abusing any power here – the most troublesome one is sealed, regeneration is mostly defensive (as in, it’s pretty much when another character would have dodged or taken cover), and in general, Alucard will almost always give other characters a fighting chance in canon, so there should be no issue of lording over other characters or the like. Since she is also a bit more subtle than the original Alucard, she will likely try to stay below the radar of the authorities once she knows what exactly they are.
Possessions: Her coffin, a pair of rather large guns (one of which has a remote control bomb embedded in it by Alucard’s enemies. Alucard is not aware of this), and a lot of ammunition.
Arrival: Alien spaceship.
Reason for Playing: One, Alucard is old, and believes to have seen it all on her world for good reason. Being in a completely new world, completely cut off from the situation she has made herself comfortable in (being a willing servant of Hellsing), changes a lot for the vampire, making it interesting both for her and for me.
All the heroes played by other characters should allow her to bring a slightly less common dynamic to the mix, for she represents a “Search and Destroy” attitude on threats and enemies, as opposed to, say, the Avengers, who appear to prefer capturing enemies alive. Clashing with the other heroes over issues like this would be fun, I believe. And if some sort of rivalry developed, it’d be perfect.

First person:
How curious. I thought they had all died, long ago, before humanity came to be.
[The camera moved from Alucard to what looks like a dead, bipedal dinosaur, which, for some reason, was impaled on a jagged spike of rock. It was very much dead. The camera moved back.]
And yet they exist here, just like me. These, the bandits that seem to be rather common in the area… it would seem that what this place lacks is someone that can bring actual law, actual order. No ruler I know of would have tolerated such a mess.
[ She suddenly smiled happily, showing perfect white teeth…made odd only by two rather large, pointed fangs.]
But what do I know, no?
[She paused for a moment.]
This is the part where you explain this place to me.
Third person:
It was, all things considered, a pretty normal day.
The sun was bright (which, to be fair, was rather annoying), the sky clear, and there was a faint, warm wind. The village square would likely have had many people enjoying the warm summer day. And they had even done so, that is, until the ghouls had attacked. By now, the villagers were gone - the ghouls belonging to the other vampire had killed them. All of them.
Alucard shook her head. It was a pity – just senseless slaughter.
Walking past several corpses, she headed towards where she knew the other vampire to be – the hotel at the other side of the square, clearly notable, for someone had barred all the windows. The other vampire likely had turned the personnel into ghouls after arriving, and had then used them for the initial assault on the village. All who had fallen had become ghouls themselves, spreading it until no living thing remained in the village. And that was why she was here: to make sure that the dead left the village as well. Not necessarily in one piece.
Inside the hotel, there was no light – the few lamps had been smashed. The ghouls Alucard had destroyed must have alerted the vampire – but unfortunately for them, Alucard did not need light.
Not bothered by the scent or the look of more corpses, she headed up the stairs. Getting closer now. What kind of vampire would he be? Certainly vermin – the slaughter of the villagers had proven that beyond doubt. But was it powerful vermin? She was looking forward to it. Oh, of course, he likely was just small fry – just another of those strange, fake vampires that had plagued Britain recently. But what if, against all possibilities, he wasn’t? It was an exciting thought.
With a wicked grin on her face, Alucard turned towards one of the doors, slamming it open. It was time to hunt another vampire…
Note: Hellsing’s canon is a bit gory. I will not describe details about that in general, and if I somehow still need to do so, I will of course put up warnings. My intention is not to shock other players.
